The Challenge
Acoustical detection has re-emerged as a concern for effectiveness of military operations, but ambient soundscape can pose problems in assessing risk and taking appropriate action.
The Strategy
To improve the Department of Defense's knowledge and understanding of ambient soundscape, HMMH provided research and development for both data collection methods and empirical modeling. We also helped create a research agenda and roadmap for the development of an acoustic detection tool, which will aid in mission planning.
