Airport businesses face many challenges today, including unpredictable and rising energy costs, diminishing revenue opportunities, impending climate change regulations, and public opposition to airport expansion projects. Stable electricity sources provide a viable revenue stream for “unusable” airfield property. HMMH provides assistance to airports interested in addressing these issues through solar photovoltaic (PV) and geothermal power generation. We also provide LEED/green building project support.
HMMH has specialized skills in both clean energy and airport operations, which are necessary to implement an airport clean energy strategy. We assist airports with siting, feasibility, installation and project management of clean energy projects. We also assess the potential for federal funding for geothermal studies, such as the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Voluntary Aviation Low Emissions (VALE) Program. Our project portfolio in this specialized area is impressive.
