AVIATION ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES CONSULTANT
Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan Area

HMMH offers a unique career opportunity for client-focused young professionals with 5-10 years' experience to provide support to our growing transportation planning and environmental practice.

Assignments may include preparing environmental documentation, noise and air quality studies, other specialty studies, understanding and evaluating environmental impacts, public involvement, and working on behalf of airport clients. Those with backgrounds in aerospace/aviation, flight procedures, physics, math, engineering, environmental sciences or other technical fields are also encouraged to apply. You will work with other professionals to provide services at airports and transportation facilities. Some travel required.

The focus of our Aviation Environmental Services group is to analyze, evaluate, and find solutions for airport environmental issues, predominantly aircraft noise and air quality. HMMH has addressed and resolved environmental noise and air quality problems in airspace sectors, airports, heliports, and military bases throughout the United States and around the world. Since 1981, HMMH has delivered expert assistance to more than 200 airports worldwide.

We seek candidates with solid technical, quantitative and technical writing backgrounds to join our firm. As a consultant at HMMH you will have an opportunity to work independently but also learn from senior staff as you:

  • Use your quantitative skills to analyze data to determine noise, vibration and air quality results
  • Participate in data collection including measurement trips
  • Actively communicate with project team members as well as clients to contribute towards delivering high quality technical documentation
  • Finding creative, technically sound and appropriate solutions to technical problems
  • Assist clients compiling aircraft operations, correspondence and land use data
  • Assist clients with responding to public inquiries regarding aviation noise issues by phone, in person meetings and public meetings

Specific duties include analyzing aircraft flight track databases and other aviation or environmental data sources to create the required inputs for modeling of environmental effects around airports and affected communities. Additional duties may include further statistical data reduction and flight track analysis to respond to specific client requests.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • BS or MS in a technical field (aerospace/aviation, physics, math, engineering, environmental sciences or other technical fields)
  • Strong quantitative, analytical skills and communication skills
  • Strong management and programing experience
  • Strong writing skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and collaborative communication skills
  • Presentations of results to clients and public

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience and drive to deliver well-written and highly defensible reports
  • Experience utilizing GIS for data acquisition, analysis and reporting functions
  • Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and environmental regulatory programs
  • Data management and programing experience
  • Demonstrated experience supporting team presentations and public meeting participation
  • Interest in acoustics, aviation and environmental issues

MARKETING INTERN
Burlington, MA

HMMH has an opportunity for an individual looking to gain experience providing marketing support in the professional services field. We are looking for an organized self-starter with strong communication and time management skillsUnder the supervision of our Marketing Manager, responsibilities will include developing/editing content for the firm's website, supporting proposal and prequalification submittals, assisting with press releases and e-marketing announcements, and maintaining the firm’s website and marketing collateral, among other responsibilities.

The position is available immediately either part or full-time. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop/edit content for the firm's website
  • Support the development/production of qualifications packages and proposals 
  • Maintain staff resumes, project summary sheets, and other collateral material
  • Updates to corporate website and development of content for new website
  • Assist with generation of email blasts, quarterly e-bulletins, and press releases

Requirements: 

  • Studies in marketing, journalism, or communication preferred
  • Must be computer literate with proficient skills in MS Office
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously 
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude and strong attention to detail
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent writing/editing capabilities

NOISE AND VIBRATION CONSULTANT
Burlington, MA; Roseville CA

HMMH offers a unique career opportunity for individuals with up to 5 years’ experience who desire to use their physics, math, or engineering skills.  As a Consultant at HMMH you will have an opportunity to use you quantitative skills to analyze data to determine noise and vibration impacts, participate in noise and vibration measurement trips, write technical memos and reports, and interact with project teams members and clients.

We are currently seeking consultant candidates for our Burlington, Massachusetts office. Requirements include:

  • BS or MS in acoustics, engineering, physics, math or a related technical field
  • strong quantitative, analytical and communication skills
  • computer modeling experience
  • ability to work both independently and within a project team
  • willingness to travel on field measurement trips, conferences and client meetings

 Additional desired qualifications, though not required:

  • experience in vibration and/or noise analysis
