Freight Rail

HMMH works with freight railroads to assess and mitigate noise and vibration problems, such as:

  • Low frequency noise from diesel locomotives
  • Wheel/rail noise from freight and passenger cars
  • Horns at grade crossings
  • Vibrations from steel wheels rolling on steel rails

Project Experience

  • Locomotive Horn Noise National Rule
  • Railroad Capacity Improvements, Alaska
  • Rail Corridor Study, Nevada
  • Rail Relocation, Texas
