Hydroacoustic Assessments

HMMH conducts hydroacoustic assessments for projects ranging from bridge construction and replacement projects, to ferry terminal construction projects. Hydroacoustic assessments are often required by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and other federal agencies to assess the potential noise impacts of pile-driving activity on fisheries, marine mammals, and/or sea turtles. These assessments also consider various mitigation measures available to the contractor including the use of bubble curtains and pile caps.
