Project Experience: I-25 Noise Studies, Colorado

The Challenge

Noise analyses were needed for the environmental and design studies for the widening of Interstate Route 25 in Colorado Springs. The study area extended from State Highway 83 South through Colorado Springs to State Highway 83 North.

The Strategy

Portions of the highway widening required the acquisition of a row of homes in a well-established neighborhood. HMMH designed effective noise barriers to protect residents from significant increases in noise and held workshops to inform residents of the acoustical and other characteristics of the walls, and to solicit their opinions about the proposals.
