The Challenge
A major theme park developer in the Orlando area needed an assessment of the expected noise intrusion of a proposed major roller coaster attraction into a nearby neighborhood.
The Strategy
HMMH:
- Performed measurements of an existing roller coaster with similar characteristics
- Measured the existing noise levels in the adjacent residential community
- Computed the expected noise levels at various points in the community using a sophisticated computer sound propagation model
- Worked with the theme park developer to modify the design and the orientation of the roller coaster to eliminate the potential for significant noise impact
