A detailed noise and vibration study was needed in support of the Environmental Assessment for the Reno Rail Project. The project involved the planned reconstruction of the main line Union Pacific Railroad train tracks in a trench through downtown Reno, Nevada. It also entailed eliminating all the existing grade crossings in the central hotel and casino district.
HMMH’s study included:
- Taking measurements to define the existing noise and vibration conditions
- Developing noise and vibration prediction models
- Assessing potential noise and vibration impacts for construction and operation
- Recommending mitigation measures to minimize impacts
