The Challenge
A noise and vibration analysis was needed for the proposed relocation of the Union Pacific freight railroad tracks from the center of College Station, Texas, to a route that bypasses the center of the town. The project also involved the grade separation of a number of existing grade crossings.
The Strategy
HMMH conducted the analysis, which included:
- Assessing the benefits of removing the crossings on the noise environment along the corridor
- Conducting measurements of existing noise and vibration
- Assessing the impacts on sensitive receptors located along the proposed bypass route for the tracks
