The Challenge
A developer proposing to construct a drag-racing facility needed noise level measurements from several of its cars.
The Strategy
HMMH took the needed measurements and:
- Measured existing background noise levels
- Projected racing noise levels to the local noise ordinances, using outdoor sound propagation models
- Projected how much noise from drag racing would reach the nearby community
- Compared the projected racing noise levels to the local noise ordinances
- Provided expert testimony as to our conclusions at zoning board hearings
