Determining the impact of increased demand, which was forecasted for LAX and 15 other airports in the region. A central issue in the study involved exploring opportunities to reallocate projected demand across the sixteen airports – an issue that involved interaction between the forecasts and the simulation performed for this study.
HMMH staff led an airspace and aviation system analysis of the Los Angeles Basin. The team:
- Generated regional airspace designs that optimized airspace capacity in 2010, 2020, and 2030
- Provided a set of models representing current and future region-wide airspace operations
- Developed a report describing the ability of the regional multi-airport system to support the forecasted demand through investments and demand reallocation
