Project Experience: Stellos Stadium, New Hampshire

The Challenge

The local community was concerned about the noise from sporting events at Stellos Stadium.

The Strategy

  • Conducted noise measurements at four sites in the communities surrounding the stadium during one evening
  • Compared noise levels from a junior varsity football game to background noise levels before and after the game to evaluate the intrusiveness of event noise

The Solution

Noise from the junior varsity football game – particularly from the public-address system – was noticeable at each measurement location. We recommended that the city install higher-quality loudspeakers with better directional control, and we specified loudspeakers that would be appropriate.
