Theme Parks

HMMH conducts reference noise measurements of existing noise sources for developers of major theme parks. These sources include:

  • Roller coasters
  • Water rides
  • Freefall rides
  • Parades
  • Musical shows
  • Nighttime fireworks shows

HMMH uses computer models to determine the potential noise effects in nearby residential and educational areas, as well as for adjacent attractions in the park itself. We also recommend noise abatement strategies that keep community concerns to a minimum. For example, our approaches to controlling roller coaster noise include structural damping to reduce the rolling noise radiated at the track, orientation of coaster elements and strategic placement of noise barriers.
