Transit Noise and Vibration Training Course

Noise has always been a factor for rail transit systems and is increasingly becoming a source of concern among communities adjacent to freight rail facilities. HMMH, through the National Transit Institute, offers a three-day course, which offers in-depth discussion of the methods and procedures used for assessing noise and vibration impacts resulting from transit projects. The course is based on previous courses taught by HMMH, and has been expanded to include new topics such as:

  • Clarification of when to use FTA criteria vs. FHWA criteria in highway-transit projects
  • Mitigation policies
  • New noise source data
  • Assessment of ferry terminals
  • Quiet zone policies
  • Abatement costs
  • Ground-borne vibration criteria for Detailed Analyses
  • Assessment of vibration in joint-use railroad corridors

Course dates:

October 2008, Denver, CO
