The Challenge
Noise analysis, evaluation and modeling were needed for the expansion of SEMASS waste-to-energy facility.
The Strategy
HMMH:
- Completed the noise analysis portion of a supplement to the Final Environmental Impact Statement
- Conducted the assessment according to Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection noise regulations for industrial facilities
- Determined the noise effects of increasing the capacity of the plant by 50 percent – up to 2,700 tons of solid waste per day
- Performed noise modeling which included the addition of new equipment to the facility and increases in on-site rail activity
